gregory-geiger-old-portrait-instantGregory is an artist living in the East Bay. He is a budding pressman and leadtype lover, comic-book fan, designer, programmer, and is currently in the first round of edits on his debut novel. He works in a variety of media and methods deeply studied and combined, from experimental analog photography to digital film making, from figurative life-sized sculpture to crowdsourcing technology, from tagging to traditional Japanese calligraphy. In all media, he works to connect human beings to each other–to capture the real person behind the smile or the unwavering gaze. He has studied and worked closely with Meghann Riepenhoff, and is currently a photo assistant for Nigel Poor and Richard Misrach. His is a founding member of the photo group 1/5th As Good. He received his BFA in photography from SFAI, is working on his MFA from Mills. He has exhibited on both east and west coasts, as well as in many non-traditional formats around the country. His current work uses pinhole photography combined with instant film to dive into a grown up exploration of childhood bad dreams.
