Before Twitter, four dear friends and I spent three days sending Text Fiction to one another. The character limit was 145, and each of these is just brilliant. I just found an archive of the ones I managed to keep, from my old website, where they were originally published.

Sun’s going down. Only one box of bullets left. He take on out and puts it in his pocket. That one’s special — that one’s his.

I promised nothing would keep us apart. Even now, here, shoveling aside the cold winter dirt. I’m coming for you, love.

MT
The birthday cake sat forlornly, Half-eaten and empty of wishes it wondered about it’s purpose. The Bag O’Zombies erupted and the dead moaned for cake.

She stood in the doorway. “Hello, sailor,” she said seductively. Ray nudged me toward her. I thought to say no, but you know the saying: Don’t ask don’t tell.

“Ghosts? I don’t believe in ghosts,” Joe replied to Ed’s question. When he got home, a single rose lay on his bed with a note: “We believe in you.”

“kthxbye” was on the screen. “That’s not what I typed!” Then she realized, the Internet ate half of her letters.

Their fingers brushed and electricity halted his breath. Emboldened by chance he orchestrated his fingers tenderly to clasp onto a new day.

I never liked pain but my life made no stranger to it. Some need a reminder of their suffering. I’m not that proud. Slowly I bled the next number. Only five more left.

He pouted, his face contorting into a petulant move. He watched his world drift away; sails powered by a new energy source. Free will.

We agreed over salad if the Judges upheld this we’d move to Canada. Her bleu cheese to my pineapples. I opened my wallet and hoped we’d run away together.

A pain shot up his back anchoring between his shoulder blades. Angelic wings tore his flesh. In that perfect instant he mourned the loss of his humanity.

As her body convulsed beneath him, he smiled. Sex was never this good before. The defribulator made her more lively than she ever was.
